There are different layers of users in BVQ:
Operating system users
This user is needed for the Windows services running bvq, such as bvq-server, bvq-scanner-local, bvq-mongodb & bvq-grafana.
This user can be a local or domain user with rights to run services (install, start, restart, stop, uninstall).
The localization settings of the OS are responsible for the format output of the BVQ REST API.
Scanned system users
For each system which is scanned by BVQ (IBM Spectrum Virtualize (SVC/Storwize/Flashsystem), VMware vCenter) an user account must be set up.
See Preparation of BVQ software installation - Configuration of SVC user and Preparation of BVQ software installation - VMware vCenter user for further information.
Database users in MongoDB
This user is needed for the different BVQ services and GUIs to connect to the MongoDB database. (e.g BVQ Server persisting performance data to the DB or BVQ GUI connecting to the database to visualize treemap & performance data)
The database user for MongoDB is initially created by the BVQ installer during installation. You can change/delete existing user or create new users if needed. See LINK_TO_MONGODB_USER
For BVQ by the default there is only 1 db user necessary.
If the password for the DB user is lost, there is no way to access the database. Keep the password save.
Web UI users
These users are needed to log into the Web UI. There are different roles with different privileges available.
See LINK_TO_WEBUI_USER
By default there is one bvq user created during the installation. This user has administrative rights within the WebUI. By default this user has the same credentials as the Database user in MongoDB.
Grafana users
Grafana has its own user management, therefor a separate user is created within grafana during the installation of BVQ. Since version 5.4.x this is an administrative user.
See LINK_TO_GRAFANA_USER
During installation a second user called admin is created. This user is used BVQ internally only.
