Create alert rules using the advanced editor

If non of our predefined alter rules cover your monitoring needs, you can create a specific alert rule in a chosen category.

There are 2 ways to start:

1. use an existing alert rule and copy it
   Alerting → Configuration → Predefined rules  → find the rules that matches best and create a clone from this rule using this button

2. start from scratch and create a new alert rule:
   Alerting → Configuration → Custom rules the + Create alert rule-button. 

This will start the process of the guided alerting rule editor.

Here, you can select one of our alerting rules templates (1) and continue with the wizard (2) or chose the advanced editor (3).

If non of the existing templates fits, chose the + Advanced editor (3), create a high customizable alerting rule.

In the Alerting advanced configuration, you have the freedom to configurate every single attribute of an alerting rule by yourself.

Every attribute is defined by its title.

Finish you work by saving (4) your advanced alerting rule.
